Job Description
Join Raytheon's Materials Engineering Department as a Principal Propellant Chemist in Tucson, AZ, where you'll engage in critical chemical analysis and testing of materials. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with industry experts and contribute to all phases of the product lifecycle, ensuring safety and performance.
Key Responsibilities
Support programs in assessing supplier data from energetic suppliers
Troubleshoot problems and provide solutions to supplier issues
Conduct hands-on testing of materials using various laboratory techniques
Conduct standard chemical analysis laboratory testing
Develop methods and test plans
Lead characterization and design projects
Document and communicate results and findings
Required Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry or equivalent experience
Minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 12+ years without a degree
Experience in using propellant mixers and standard laboratory equipment
Experience in Instrumental Analysis techniques
Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance
Knowledge of material safety datasheets and Military/Industrial Specifications
Strong communication, interpersonal, planning and time management skills
