Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Senior Director of Behavior, leading a dedicated team to provide high-quality behavioral care for animals in New York City. This role involves overseeing research projects and ensuring the welfare of animals while collaborating with various departments to enhance overall care and adoption readiness.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Lead and facilitate ARC and CARE research projects
Ensure high quality, low stress patient care
Manage and coach a team of behavior experts
Collaborate with various teams across the organization
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
DVM degree or equivalent for veterinary behaviorist candidates
Master’s or PhD degree in animal behavior or related discipline for non-veterinarian behaviorist candidates
Ability to work with behaviorally and medically compromised animals
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing/overseeing research projects
Experience writing scientific publications for peer-reviewed journals
