About the Assignment

HumanEdge Health is seeking an experienced Travel Registered Nurse (RN) for a Stepdown/Cardiovascular Unit (CVU) assignment at a top-performing heart hospital in Petoskey, Michigan . This state-of-the-art facility provides advanced cardiovascular care for thousands of patients each year and has been recognized nationally for clinical excellence.

The CVU cares for over 4,000 cardiology patients annually , including those receiving PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, and bi-ventricular pacemakers. The unit also manages post–open heart surgery patients (18–24 hours post-op) , congestive heart failure , and electrophysiology cases. With a Silver Beacon Award from the AACN and recognition as a Top 50 Heart Hospital , this unit is known for exceptional teamwork and patient outcomes.

Assignment Details

• Shift Schedule: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM (12-hour nights)

• Hours: 36 hours per week guaranteed

• Weekends: Every other weekend required

• On-Call: Possible

• Float: Must be willing to float to similar units

• Care Setting: Stepdown / Cardiovascular Unit (CVU)

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to post-cardiac and cardiovascular patients

• Monitor and interpret EKGs; respond appropriately to changes in cardiac rhythms

• Manage patients requiring complex cardiac interventions and post-operative recovery

• Collaborate with physicians and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans

• Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to evidence-based care standards

• Participate in ongoing quality improvement and research initiatives within the CVU

Qualifications

• License: Active RN license (MI or Compact) – required

• Certifications: BLS and ACLS – required

• Experience:

  • Minimum 1 year of recent Stepdown or Cardiovascular experience – required

  • Cardiac and EKG proficiency – required

  • Travel experience – required
