Job Description
Join Optum as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner and make a difference in patients' lives by providing exceptional behavioral health care. Work collaboratively in a dynamic outpatient setting, treating a diverse range of mental health conditions with a focus on comprehensive patient care.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations and assessments of patients
Utilize evidence-based screening tools and diagnostic criteria to formulate treatment plans
Deliver individual and group psychotherapy sessions
Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications
Provide patient education regarding medication regimens
Collaborate with treatment team members to ensure coordinated care
Maintain accurate clinical documentation in EMR systems
Required Qualifications
Active, clear certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP)
Board Certification as a free-standing Mental Health NP
Current and active DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances
Experience working with a wide range of clinical presentations
Ability to provide psychiatric assessment and solid diagnostic & evaluation skills
Ability to provide patient education regarding medication treatment adherence
Ability to counsel patients using advanced psychotherapeutic techniques
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years of clinical experience in psychiatric/mental health nursing in an outpatient setting
Experience working with patients in different age groups, including older adults
Experience working with couples or family counseling
Experience with health psychology
Experience with computers for professional communication and medical documentation
Expertise in treatment of substance addiction and co-occurring disorders
