Job Description
The Registered Nurse in Perioperative Care will demonstrate competency in the delivery of patient care throughout all stages of growth and development, and will be responsible for comprehensive assessments, clinical skills, and documentation of patient care. The RN will work collaboratively within a team to ensure patient satisfaction and safety while adhering to best practices and protocols.
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.
- Provide competent and appropriate nursing care to the patient population of the unit.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation of patient care and progress.
- Demonstrate professional practice responsibility, adhering to policies and identifying areas for growth.
- Respond to patients, families, and coworkers in a professional and courteous manner.
- Follow National Patient Safety Goals, including patient identification and safety protocols.
- Demonstrate knowledge of surgical conditions, procedures, and equipment specific to patient care.
- Contribute to the perioperative team by prioritizing patient care based on needs and conditions.
- Assess patient understanding of surgical procedures and educate them and their families accordingly.
- Support the timely completion of patient testing and evaluate PAT orders for appropriateness.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- 1 year of relevant nursing experience required.
- BLS certification is required.
- Current RN License is required.
- CNOR certification is preferred.
- Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing; Associate’s or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
