Summary
A surgery technician provides
assistance in the operating room. These individuals work under the supervision
of surgeons, anesthesiologist and nurses. They care for patients during the
surgical /procedure. Surgery technicians can work in ambulatory (River View,
Pavilion) or the hospital setting (Main OR). The surgery technician plans,
implements, evaluates patient care along with other team members. They accept responsibility for collaboration with
co-workers in the implementation of care.
This position is responsible for providing optimum levels of care as the patient’s transition through their stay. All the duties and standards within this job description will be performed according to the established policies and guidelines outlined in the department and Center policy and procedure manuals. These will be measured through surveys, department goals, peer input, expectation and experience.

Education: High
school graduate or equivalent. Graduate
of a surgical technician accredited program required. Attends in-services to maintain professional
standards.
Licensure & Certifications: CPR
certification. Certification (CST)
required.
Experience: Previous
OR experience preferred.

delivering of care in an ambulatory and inpatient care facility. Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation
