Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will lead a dedicated team providing essential veterinary care in underserved communities. Support the development of fellow veterinarians while ensuring high-quality care for animals in need, all within a collaborative and compassionate environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
  • Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
  • Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging, and teamwork
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality, high-volume surgeries
  • Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care
  • Support internal ASPCA departments with medical consultations
  • Participate in monthly Veterinary Medicine Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality meetings

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Excellent work attendance record
  • Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Fear Free® Shelter certification (required within 60 days of hire)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
