Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will lead a dedicated team providing essential veterinary care in underserved communities. Support the development of fellow veterinarians while ensuring high-quality care for animals in need, all within a collaborative and compassionate environment.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging, and teamwork
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality, high-volume surgeries
Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care
Support internal ASPCA departments with medical consultations
Participate in monthly Veterinary Medicine Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Excellent work attendance record
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Fear Free® Shelter certification (required within 60 days of hire)
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience
