Job Description

Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you will support a dedicated team in providing high-quality veterinary care to underserved communities. This role combines leadership with hands-on veterinary work, allowing you to make a significant impact on animal welfare while fostering a positive work culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the veterinary clinics
  • Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and other medical protocols
  • Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and performance evaluation
  • Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality surgical procedures
  • Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
  • Schedule staff veterinarians for optimal coverage
  • Attend workshops or meetings as needed

Required Qualifications

  • Current California State Veterinary License
  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
  • Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
  • Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
  • Demonstrate leadership abilities in challenging situations
  • Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
  • Fear FreeĀ® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous people management experience
