Operating Room RN (Cardiac Focus) – Des Moines, IA
13 Weeks | 36–48 Hours | EPIC EMR | Level I Trauma
📍 Job Details
- Shift: 12-hour shifts, flexible start times
- Call: Weekend call (Fri end of shift – Mon 0630)
- Radius Rule: Locals accepted within 50 miles (10% bill rate reduction)
- Scrubs: Provided
🏥 Facility & Unit Information
- Unit Type: Operating Room – primarily cardiac cases
- Bed Size: 16 OR suites (12–14 running routinely)
- Patient Ratio: 1:1
- Average Caseload: 35–50 cases/day; turnovers <20 minutes
- Special Equipment:
- 3 DaVinci Robots
- Stealth technology for Neuro navigation
- Synthes & Stryker for ortho trauma (minimal joint cases)
- Service Lines:
Cardiac, PV, Neuro, Ortho (Trauma), Robotics, GYN, Urology, General, Pediatrics, Transplants, limited ENT/Plastics - Responsibilities: Scrub and Circulate (both strongly preferred)
- Floating: Required across all campuses (Iowa Methodist, Iowa Lutheran, Iowa Methodist)
🎄 Holiday Requirements
- Must work 2 of 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year’s, Thanksgiving)
- Limit of 1 day off between:
- Nov 26–30, 2025
- Dec 23, 2025–Jan 2, 2026
💼 Submission Requirements
- 3+ years recent hospital-based OR experience (outpatient does not qualify)
- Strong cardiac, vascular, thoracic experience required
- Level I trauma experience required
- No first-time travelers – must have completed a travel contract within the past 12 months
- Scrub experience required, including open-heart procedures
- Must have EPIC EMR experience
- Must have experience in additional service lines (neuro, ortho/trauma, general, GYN, pediatrics)
- Clinical interviews conducted from 405 area code
