Job Description

Join Ochsner Health System as a Sonographer, where you will perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures and mentor junior staff. Your role will significantly impact patient care and contribute to a collaborative healthcare environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures
  • Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verifies physician order and procedure for accuracy
  • Explains procedures to patients for understanding
  • Operates equipment to complete imaging procedures according to protocol
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality
  • Completes quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards
  • Facilitates departmental operations (inventory, staff schedules, etc.)
  • Adapts behavior to specific patient populations
  • Performs related duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of sonographer experience
  • Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need
