Job Description
The Emergency Department Nurse performs patient assessments, determines priority of care, and provides immediate interventions. The nurse analyzes assessment data, formulates and implements plans of care, and evaluates their effectiveness in collaboration with medical staff, adhering to the policies and procedures of the healthcare facility.
Responsibilities
- Conduct thorough patient assessments and prioritize care.
- Provide immediate interventions based on assessment data.
- Collaborate with medical staff to implement and evaluate care plans.
- Float within specialty areas as needed, possibly to ED hold.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Three years of recent experience in an Emergency Department required.
- BSN degree required.
- Current licensure with the New Jersey State Board of Nursing.
- American Heart Association BLS certification required.
- American Heart Association ACLS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- American Heart Association PALS certification required within 6 months of hire.
- NIHSS Critical Care Course within 1 year or 2 years CC experience or current CEN.
- Completion of Trauma Nurse Core Courses or equivalent education within 12 months of assignment.
- National Certification in specialty area preferred.
- Travel experience required (completed at least one contract assignment).
