Job Summary:
The Staff RN in the Labor & Delivery Unit provides specialized nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and recovery stages. The RN is responsible for delivering safe, family-centered care, monitoring maternal and fetal well-being, and assisting in obstetric and surgical procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Provide direct care to laboring mothers, couplets, antepartum patients, and GYN surgical patients.
- Monitor maternal and fetal status using EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) and respond promptly to changes.
- Assist with vaginal deliveries, cesarean sections, inductions, and other obstetric interventions.
- Support postpartum care including pain management, education on newborn care, and breastfeeding support.
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as ordered.
- Collaborate with physicians, midwives, anesthesiologists, and the interdisciplinary team to ensure coordinated care.
- Maintain accurate documentation in the EMR and ensure effective shift handoffs.
- Adhere to evidence-based practices, infection control policies, and hospital standards.
- Educate and support patients and families to promote confidence and positive outcomes.
- Respond effectively to obstetric and neonatal emergencies.
Requirements:
- Current RN license in applicable state
- BLS and NRP required (ACLS and AWHONN Fetal Monitoring preferred)
- At least 1 year of recent experience in Labor & Delivery, Mother-Baby, or Women’s Health strongly preferred
Shift & Hours:
- Day shift: 7:00 AM – 7:00 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
