Med/Surg RN Job Details

• Location: Mayfield, KY 42066 (Western Kentucky nursing jobs)
• Unit: Medical/Surgical Unit (65 beds)
• Assignment Type: Travel RN Contract
• Start Date: November 30, 2025
• End Date: March 1, 2026
• Duration: 13-week travel assignment
• Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $1680-$1800
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• Float Requirement: May float to similar medical-surgical units
• Electronic Health Record: Meditech
• Dress Code: Any color scrubs (no hoodies or words other than JPMC)

Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (Kentucky or compact state)
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• CPI, HWC, or MAB certification
• Minimum 1 year of recent Med/Surg nursing experience
• Experience with adult and geriatric patient care in a clinical setting
• Strong communication and compassionate patient care skills

Med/Surg RN Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality nursing care to adult and geriatric patients in a 65-bed medical-surgical unit
• Manage patient assignments with ratios up to 1:8, supported by Patient Care Assistants (PCAs)
• Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions using Meditech EHR
• Administer prescribed medications and treatments accurately
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams for optimal patient outcomes
• Provide care for common diagnoses including COPD, post-operative joints, and diabetes
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and compliant environment for patients and staff
• Follow hospital policies, procedures, and infection control standards
