Driver’s License required for submission

Unit Overview

  • # of L&D Beds: 7
  • # of OR Suites for C-Sections: 1 primary OR and 1 backup located adjacent to the unit
  • # of Triage Beds: 2 triage rooms and 2 NST beds
  • # of Postpartum Beds: 15
  • Births (per year): ~770 (2024 data)
  • Facility Designation: Level 2

Staffing & Ratios

  • AWHONN Guidelines Followed: Yes
  • Charge Nurse Each Shift: Yes — charge nurse also carries a patient assignment
  • Support Staff:
    • Scrub Tech: Assigned each shift
    • Duties: Set up and assist with deliveries, stock rooms, assist with repositioning

  • OB: On call, office in building
  • Pediatrician: In house 24/7
  • Anesthesia: In house 24/7

Equipment & Monitoring

  • Respiratory Equipment Available: Vents, CPAP, BiPAP, High Flow
    • RT manages equipment
    • Nursing responsibilities: Oxygen via NC, Neopuff use, troubleshooting
  • Tele/Monitor Techs: None — RNs interpret their own strips
  • Monitor Brand: GE
  • EFM System: PeriWatch

Scheduling & Work Requirements

  • Shift: 5:00 PM – 5:30 AM
  • Scheduling: Self-scheduling, rotating every other weekend
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • Holiday Requirement: Every 3rd holiday
  • Call/Standby: No call; possible standby if census is low
  • Floating: L&D nurses may care for postpartum patients if L&D volume is low

Dress Code

  • Scrubs: Hospital-supplied

Orientation

  • Unit-Specific Orientation: 1–2 shifts
