Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for maintaining the delivery of quality care by ensuring the nursing care plan is followed. The RN supervises Licensed Practical Nurses, Certified Nursing Assistants, and orientees while embracing the core values of superior quality, treating others with respect, being results-oriented, and working collaboratively as a team.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing assessments on all patients within 8 hours of admission to establish an individualized plan of care.
- Identify teaching needs related to patient diagnoses through collaboration with patients, families, and the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide patient information and status updates in a timely manner for team conferences.
- Document all assessments, interventions, and patient responses in the medical record accurately and promptly.
- Participate in patient rehabilitation programs and prioritize education for the patient/family.
- Initiate discharge planning upon admission and patient teaching in anticipation of discharge dates.
- Communicate pertinent information regarding patients’ status changes to relevant care providers to ensure continuity of care.
- Assist in training and supervising ancillary nursing personnel, delegating tasks appropriately.
- Ensure personal and environmental safety in accordance with hospital policies.
- Contribute to a positive unit environment through calm direction and reassurance.
- Maintain communication with management regarding service needs, supplies, and clinical training.
- Assume charge responsibilities as requested after the orientation period.
- Actively pursue professional growth through continuing education and self-study.
- Effectively prioritize activities and manage time in meeting patient needs.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- BLS Certification required prior to the first shift.
- ACLS certification required prior to the first shift (for specific locations).
- A minimum of two years of bedside clinical experience is highly desired.
