Job Description

Join Walt Disney Imagineering as a Senior Ride Development Engineer, where you'll lead the design and development of innovative ride systems that create magical experiences for millions. Collaborate with diverse teams to tackle complex engineering challenges while ensuring safety and reliability in every aspect of ride design.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver complex and innovative ride systems ensuring durability, reliability, and safety
  • Concept design of entire ride systems and subsystems
  • Negotiate technical requirements from high-level descriptions
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements
  • Coordinate activities of an engineering & design team
  • Develop scope, inspection, testing, and report documents
  • Manage vendor/contractor relationships
  • Lead proof of concept prototype efforts
  • Participate in ride mechanical installation and testing
  • Travel domestically and internationally as needed

Required Qualifications

  • 8+ years relevant/hands-on experience
  • Sophisticated engineering knowledge (e.g., statics, dynamics, kinematics, stress/strain/fatigue)
  • Advanced engineering expertise (e.g., machine design, weldments, power train, materials)
  • Proficiency with design tools (e.g., SolidWorks, Navisworks, AutoCAD, SketchUp, ANSYS, FEA, Matlab)
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards
  • Superior design sensibilities and creative problem solving
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a large and diverse team environment
  • Strong work ethic and excellent time management skills
  • Willingness to learn and improve
  • Positive and optimistic influence on team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Disney or entertainment experience
  • Experience with life safety design/requirements
  • Experience with prototype, development, and/or innovative products
  • Technical certifications (EIT, FE, PE)
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to a non-technical audience
  • Hands-on experience with equipment assembly, fabrication, and installation
  • Desire and ability to mentor others
  • Attention to detail, optimism, enthusiasm, perseverance
