Job Description

Join Optum's Psychiatry Services in Syracuse, NY as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. You will play a vital role in providing treatment for a diverse patient population, managing mental health conditions through therapy and medication management. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessment to new and existing patients
  • Establish appropriate clinical diagnosis and update as needed
  • Provide ongoing E/M medication management services
  • Knowledge of CPT codes for billing purposes
  • Maintain schedule according to productivity guidelines
  • Provide referrals to community resources
  • Discharge clients as clinically indicated
  • Review client charts for accuracy and completeness
  • Complete required documentation in a timely manner
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning
  • Communicate and collaborate with colleagues and referral sources
  • Participate in periodic trainings

Required Qualifications

  • MSN or DNP
  • Clear, active and unrestricted RN license and APRN license in the state of practice
  • Prescriptive Authority in the state of New York
  • Ability to be successfully added to all insurance panels
  • Eligible to be enrolled as a provider in the Medicare program or able to terminate opt-out

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years of psychiatric nursing experience
  • Experience with medication management
  • Experience working with computers for professional communication and medical documentation
  • Proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a psychiatric care environment
