As a Mobile Unit Specialist, you will have the opportunity to:
Manages the maintenance, cleaning and sterilization of Mobile Units according to guidelines and manufacturer's specifications.
Ensures staff are trained on Mobile Unit safety procedures, proper use of equipment, and infection control protocols.
Maintains Mobile Unit garage and storage area cleanliness, tools, and equipment.
Drives the Mobile Unit on a daily basis to clinics, community outreach events, health fairs, and parades.
Assists with administrative support duties as needed, including patient registration, scheduling, and problem resolution.
Prepares and sets up instruments and equipment necessary for the exam performed by the provider.
Documents in EMR per Provider's instruction.
Provides education and counsel for patients in oral hygiene or cancer screenings.
Monitors and maintains security of equipment, patients/clients, and employees in the Mobile Unit.
Reconciles cash box on a daily basis.
Initiates and routes encounter forms on all patients and provides information including statistics for dental and medical services.
Assists in implementing and monitoring the patient infection control program for the mobile unit, including ensuring integrity of sterile packaging, sterilizing instruments/equipment and cleaning autoclaves.
If working as a dental assistant, also performs dental procedures to include coronal polish, application of fluoride treatment and sealants.
Minimum of a high school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) that is accredited by a regional or national accrediting agency approved by the US Department of Education is required.
DA Mobile Unit Specialist: Completion of a Dental Assisting Program. MA Mobile Unit Specialist: Washington: Graduation from a medical assisting training program (may be a one-year certificate/diploma program or a two-year Associate Degree program) that is accredited by either the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES). This training program must be comprised of at least 720 hours of medical assistant training, including at least 160 hours in a clinical externship.
One year's experience as a Dental Assistant or Medical Assistant dependent upon program. Registration as a Dental Assistant or EFDA certification.
NOTE: Dental Assistants who have not received their Dental Assistant registration from the State of Washington will not be allowed to perform the Essential Functions of the job until it is received. Prior to this time, a Dental Assistant will be allowed to observe patient care and assist with paperwork and receptionist roles only.
Dental Assistant Registration must be completed within 7 days of hire unless specifically approved by the Clinic Administrator.
Have or obtain a medical assisting credential within 180 days of hire.
Class A or B Washington State Commercial Driver's License within 90 days of hire.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) required. Must demonstrate the ability to communicate at level 10 on the ALTA language proficiency scale to receive bilingual differential pay. Knowledge of dental anatomy. Knowledge of medical and dental terminology is preferred. Knowledge of in dental materials and instruments. Strong customer relations skills. Basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs, including Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
