Job Overview

We’re seeking a Central Sterile Processing Technician to join our healthcare team for a 13-week contract assignment. In this role, you’ll be responsible for the decontamination, cleaning, processing, and sterilization of medical instruments and supplies used across various hospital departments. You’ll play a critical role in maintaining patient safety and ensuring all sterilization processes meet regulatory and facility standards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate and monitor autoclaves and sterilization equipment to ensure proper function and compliance.
  • Perform biological and chemical testing on sterilizers and maintain accurate records.
  • Decontaminate, clean, wrap, and sterilize surgical instruments and medical supplies.
  • Follow manufacturer guidelines for all sterilization processes.
  • Assemble and prepare surgical trays and instruments for various procedures.
  • Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed.
  • Support staff training and assist with ongoing education on sterilization techniques.
  • Apply aseptic techniques and adhere to all infection control policies.
  • Ensure documentation accuracy and confidentiality in all departmental records.
  • Participate in safety programs, compliance training, and department meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • Experience: At least 1 year of experience in sterile processing (less than 1 year acceptable for motivated candidates).
  • Certification: Sterile Processing Technician certification preferred.
  • License: Must have an active state license (if applicable).
  • Skills: Strong attention to detail, knowledge of sterilization principles, and familiarity with Cerner EMR preferred.
  • Other: Reliable attendance, flexibility to cover holidays, and ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare setting.
