POSITION SUMMARY:

Logistics & Storage Engineering (L&SE) provides project management services for Marathon’s Logistics & Storage (L&S) organization. Projects typically involve maintenance, optimization, or new build construction of pipeline facilities/mainlines, terminal facilities, or crude/product storage tanks. The Cost Estimating Specialist provides best-in-class estimating support packages for L&SE project teams.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with project sponsors (MPLX Strategy & Business Development, Pipeline, Terminals) to develop pre-conceptual scopes of work and cost estimates for potential projects.
  • Collaborate with the project team to understand project scope, schedule, drawings, constructability, and contract strategy.
  • Deliver end-of-phase estimates to progress engineering development and funding requests for project teams.
  • Utilize project estimating database and tools to assemble project estimate package.
  • Track estimate baseline relative to bids and actual costs to support historical cost database.
  • Provide input to project controls processes to align project schedules and forecast.
  • Drive cost competitiveness by setting competitive but attainable estimates.
  • Assess potential project risks/opportunities to establish estimate contingency.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High School Diploma Required
  • Degree – Bachelor’s degree preferred; Major Discipline: Engineering, Engineering Technology, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5+ years in Engineering or Construction Management, preferably with pipelines and terminals.
  • Computer Proficiencies: Basic Microsoft Office skills with emphasis on Excel. Familiarity with Estimating software is a plus.

  • up to 10%
