Unit & Facility Details:
- Unit Type: Low-Level ICU
- Number of Beds: 12
- Patient Types: CHF, COPD, pneumonia, cardiac arrhythmias, sepsis
- Most surgical patients are transferred out (surgeon available 2 days/week)
- Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4–6
- Tele Monitoring: Central monitors with tele packs
- No telemetry techs – nurses must read and interpret strips
- IV Team: No – strong IV skills required
- Provider places PICC lines during the day
- Respiratory Therapy: Not in-house – nurses manage BiPAP and treatments
- Pharmacy: On-site until 3 PM; tele-pharmacy after hours
- Nurses may need to mix meds if ordered after hours
- Charge RN: Yes; does not typically take a patient load
- Float Requirement: Yes, within the facility based on need
- Orientation: 1 shift with a preceptor
- Scrubs: Any color, must be professional
Scheduling:
- Weekend Requirement: Every 3rd weekend (may vary with needs)
- Holiday Requirement: Rotates with perm staff
- Flexibility and strong teamwork are essential
Required Certifications:
- BLS (Required)
- ACLS (Required)
- PALS (Preferred)
Experience & Skills:
- Strong IV skills required
- Must be able to titrate drips (common: heparin, nitro, Cardizem, amiodarone, insulin)
- No ventilator management on inpatient unit
- Experience in low-acuity ICU or telemetry settings preferred
- Must be flexible, a team player, and willing to help across departments
