Role Overview

The Speech-Language Pathologist develops and implements individualized treatment plans to improve swallowing, cognitive, and communication abilities while reducing the risk of aspiration. Treatment may include strategies to help patients be better understood and to improve comprehension of others.

The SLP leads, guides, and directs the delivery of speech-language pathology and audiology services in the facility in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations, as well as facility policies and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough screenings and evaluations of patients with communication, cognitive, or swallowing disorders.

  • Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans following clinical and regulatory standards.

  • Monitor patient progress and modify services as needed based on outcomes.

  • Provide consultation and counseling to patients, families, caregivers, and other healthcare providers.

  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and interdisciplinary team members regarding patient progress, barriers, and treatment plans.

  • Document all required information accurately in the electronic health record system.

  • Provide comprehensive discharge summaries per regulatory and clinical requirements.

  • Participate in required meetings such as patient care conferences, rehabilitation meetings, and utilization reviews.

  • Attend facility and company-required trainings, in-services, and conferences.

  • Obtain necessary DME or supplies as needed for therapy sessions.

  • Supervise and mentor CFY or student Speech-Language Pathologists as applicable.

  • Adhere to ASHA and state practice acts, codes of conduct, and ethics.

Submission Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year of SLP experience – REQUIRED

  • LTC or Rehab experience – REQUIRED

  • WA State License – REQUIRED

  • CCC Certification – REQUIRED
