? General Information

• Unit Type: Acute Care Dialysis (Inpatient + ICU Support)
• Facilities: Bryan & College Station campuses (approx. 16 minutes apart)
• Floating: First to float between both campuses as needed
• Prescreen Requirement:
  • Candidates must not have been directly employed (FT, PT, or PRN) by CommonSpirit Health , CHI , or Dignity Health within the past 12 months .
  • PRN work through an outside agency is acceptable.

• Beds: Dialysis Suite (number varies by day/treatment load)
• Nurse-to-Patient Ratios:
  • 2:1 (standard treatments)
  • 1:1 (ICU treatments)

? Patient Population

• Common Diagnoses:
  • End-Stage Renal Disease (ESRD)
  • Acute Renal Failure
  • Peritoneal Dialysis patients
• Treatment Settings:
  • Acute Hemodialysis Suite
  • ICU (1:1 dialysis care)

? Required Certifications

• BLS
• ACLS
• NIHSS

? Required Experience & Must-Have Skills

• General acute care dialysis competencies
• AVF/AVG cannulation and CVC access
• Recognition and management of dialysis complications/emergencies
• Peritoneal dialysis initiation, termination, and site/catheter care

? Medication Management

• Titration: Heparin only
• Common Set-Rate Drips:
  • Amiodarone
  • Cardizem (Diltiazem)
  • Dobutamine
  • Dopamine
  • Milrinone

? Monitoring & Equipment

• Telemetry:
  • Patients in the acute suite are monitored via telemetry
  • Monitor techs read strips
  • ICU patients are monitored at bedside and central stations
• RT Equipment:
  • Vents, Hi-Flow O₂, CPAP, BiPAP (in ICU only)
  • Managed by ICU RNs and RT

⏰ Shifts & Scheduling

• Shift Length: 12-hour shifts
• Weekend Requirement: Every other Saturday (max)
