Job Summary:
Provides specialized medical nutrition therapy as a member of the Nutrition Support Team. Completes nutritional assessments, designs, recommends, and implements specialized enteral and parenteral nutrition regimens for patients being followed by the Nutrition Support Team. Attends Multidisciplinary Critical Care Rounds as feasible and Nutrition Support Team Rounds bi-weekly. Monitors and evaluates response to medical nutrition therapy. Collaborates with other healthcare team members in planning post-hospital care. Educates patients and caregivers regarding home enteral and parenteral nutrition administration and management. Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served; also demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development and possesses the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interprets the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his/her age specific needs, and to provide the care needed. Completes accurate and timely documentation of assessment and care plans in EMR.

Education/Skills:
Bachelor degree from an accredited school in nutrition, dietetics, or human nutrition
required. Master degree preferred, but not required. Registered by the Commission on
Dietetic Registration of the Academy of Nutrition And Dietetics. Certification in
Nutrition Support preferred; required within two years of hire.
Work Experience:
Work experience in Nutrition Support preferred; a minimum of two years as a clinical dietitian
preferred.

Ability to maintain expertise in specialized nutrition/with emphasis in critical care
nutrition; ability to process large volumes of detailed patient information, assess, develop,
and implement patient specific nutrition care plans in a timely manner; ability to
communicate effectively with patients, physicians, other healthcare personnel,
administration, and community as needed; work within time constraints and associated
stress/pressure.
