The Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant in Cardiac Surgery provides comprehensive clinical care to cardiac surgery patients across preoperative, perioperative, postoperative, and outpatient settings. Responsibilities include patient evaluation, performing ICU bedside procedures, endovascular vein harvesting, and assisting in cardiac surgeries like CABG and valve procedures. The role requires collaboration with clinical teams, development and implementation of treatment plans, quality improvement participation, and continuous professional development.
Position Objective:
Under the direction and supervision of the Lead Physician Assistant / Nurse Practitioner (APP), the Cardiac Surgery APP will perform all required clinical duties, including patient evaluation and management in the preoperative, postoperative, and outpatient settings as well as performing ICU bedside procedures (e.g. arterial line and central line insertion), endovascular vein harvesting, and first assisting cardiac surgical procedures (e.g. CABG, valve surgery, aorta surgery). .
