Description
This Otolaryngologist / ENT Surgeon position will have the following duties and responsibilities:
Administrative Summary
- Provides direct clinical supervision to Physician Assistants (PAs) working in Otolaryngology / ENT Surgery Clinic or assisting in the OR on ENT cases
- Adheres to the Medical Staff Bylaws, policies, procedures and SOPs established within the VA medical Center.
- Communicates / collaborates with OR nursing staff to ensure appropriate equipment and supplies are available for all orthopedic surgical operations
- Reports incidences of medical and surgical care that they believe did not meet acceptable standards to the Chief of Surgery and the Chief of Staff
- Participates as requested in the facility Peer Review process
- Participates in Quality Management activities including but not limited to monthly Surgical Staff Meetings and educational events.
- Participates in selected committees as designated by the Chief of Surgery (e.g. Surgical Work Group, Peer Review Committee, Electronic Health Records Committee, etc.)
Position Summary
- Provides consultative Otolaryngology / ENT surgery evaluation and management services and ENT surgical services consistent with the ambulatory status of the Manchester VAMC.
- Completes or supervises completion of pre-operative history and physical exam, review of pre-operative studies, completion of pre-operative assessment
- Performs surgical operations based on training, skill and adequacy of infrastructure support
- Performs office-based diagnostic and therapeutic procedures based on training, skill and adequacy of infrastructure support
- Evaluates the patient to assess any changes in the physical status, lab values and vital signs prior to surgery. Enters appropriate pre- and post-operative notes in the patient's medical record.
Work Schedule:
- This is a Part Time position, tour of duty will be determined between the Physician and their Supervisor.
