Job Description

Join Dell Medical School as an Advanced Practice Provider in Pediatric Neurosurgery, where you'll deliver exceptional care to pediatric patients while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. Key Responsibilities

  • Provide care to patients with acute and chronic illnesses in the neurosurgical service
  • Oversee patient clinical records, labs, and imaging
  • Conduct health history and physical assessments of pediatric patients
  • Conduct preoperative evaluations for patients
  • Participate in daily rounds and collaborate with healthcare team members
  • Evaluate patients for routine post-op care and manage complications
  • Manage communications between healthcare team and patients
  • Provide after-hours call coverage as part of the Pediatric Neurosurgery APP team
  • Assist in surgeries and procedures if qualified
  • Participate in clinical trials and research projects
  • Engage in community outreach and education efforts
  • Assist in administrative duties such as staff hiring and training

Required Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from an accredited Nursing Program or Physician Assistant's program
  • Active RN and APRN license in the State of Texas or current Physician Assistant license in Texas
  • Active board certification as an Acute Care Pediatric NP or PA
  • Active DEA license or ability to apply prior to or upon hire
  • Current CPR and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications
  • Excellent analytical skills and problem-solving ability
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with electronic medical record systems
  • Outstanding organizational and time-management skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • One or more years of experience in pediatric neurosurgical or related surgical practice
  • Experience with large research projects and clinical trials
  • RN First Assist training and certification
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish
