Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead a dedicated team to provide quality veterinary care in underserved communities. You will support and mentor fellow veterinarians while ensuring every patient receives compassionate and high-quality care. Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at the Community Veterinary Clinic
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture through regular feedback and performance evaluation
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high volume spay/neuter procedures
Provide preventive and basic care to patients in underserved areas
Schedule staff veterinarians for optimal coverage
Participate in monthly veterinary medicine rounds and meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Maintain open mind regarding changes and be willing to learn new protocols
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced clinic environment
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
