Job Description
Join Mercy as an Associate Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist, where you will enhance the quality of patient care by ensuring accurate clinical documentation. Collaborate with care providers to reflect true clinical scenarios and improve hospital outcomes in a supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
Perform clinically based reviews of inpatient medical records
Ensure accuracy and completeness of clinical documentation
Collaborate with inpatient care providers
Reflect true Severity of Illness (SOI) and Risk of Mortality (ROM)
Provide quality care and treatment
Required Qualifications
RN, BSN, RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CPC, CIC, CCDS, or CDIP
1-year related experience in acute care inpatient nursing or inpatient coding or HIM
Excellent critical thinking skills
Excellent communication skills (written and verbally)
Strong computer skills including typing ability
Ability to plan and organize workflow
Detail oriented
Ability to work independently
Preferred Qualifications
3 years nursing, inpatient coding, or other HIM role in acute hospital setting
Knowledge of diagnosis-related groups (DRG) and prospective payment systems
Utilization review/case management experience
CCDS or CDIP certification preferred
