Job Description
The Senior Director of Behavior will lead a dedicated team at ARC and CARE, ensuring the behavioral health of animals while advancing research in animal welfare. This role is pivotal in providing high-quality care and promoting collaboration across various teams to enhance the lives of animals in need.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure quality individualized care and low stress handling
Manage a team of behavior experts
Lead research projects
Foster relationships across departments for animal health
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Master’s or PhD in animal Behavior or related field for non-veterinarian candidates
DVM degree and NY State veterinary license for veterinarian candidates
Ability to work in high-volume, fast-paced environment
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in shelters
Interest in developing research projects
