Medical Director – Advanced Heart Failure

Location: University Health, San Antonio, TX

Position Type: Full-time, Employed (W2)

University Health seeks an accomplished Medical Director of Advanced Heart Failure to lead the growth and excellence of our expanding heart failure program. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of advanced cardiovascular care in South Texas.

Role Highlights:

  1. Provide clinical and strategic leadership for a comprehensive advanced heart failure program.
  2. Oversee outpatient and inpatient services, advanced therapies (LVAD, ECMO), and the development of future transplant capabilities.
  3. Lead multidisciplinary teams focused on improving outcomes and reducing readmissions.
  4. Partner with system leaders to expand regional referral networks and establish University Health as a center of excellence.

Qualifications:

  • MD or DO with Board Certification in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure & Transplant Cardiology.
  • Minimum 5 years of advanced HF experience, including LVAD or transplant care.
  • Proven leadership in program development, quality improvement, and team building.
