Responsible for leading the Bank’s cannabis lending initiative as well as managing a portfolio of existing commercial and private banking relationships, originating new financing transactions and relationships, and cross selling the Bank’s other products and services.

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
Performs any function, within scope of authority and expertise and in conformance with established Bank policies, strategies, and procedures, to provide the highest level of service and responsiveness to the customers served by the Bank.
Understands, adopts, and adheres to the Bank’s Loan Policy. Understands and follows all compliance related issues regarding soliciting, originating, and managing customers and potential customers of the Bank. Fully understands, remains up to date and adheres to cannabis related regulations and is regarded as the Bank’s subject matter expert relating to cannabis lending and deposit relationship management. Provides accurate assessments of the risks associated with current loan portfolio and potential customers based on the Bank’s Loan Policy and procedures. Provides timely information to management regarding potential portfolio issues. Understands loan documentation and works with the commercial loan department to ensure accurate and up-to-date information on their loan portfolio and applications. Maintains comprehensive and current credit files. Provides accurate and complete loan presentations for new and existing customers, identifying the key risks associated with the customer or potential customer. Approves loan requests within their lending authority and presents loans outside their lending authority to others including Credit Committee, Loan Committee, and the Board of Directors. Sources and develops new clients that fit the bank’s credit profile with emphasis on credit quality, profitability, and cross sale opportunities. Responsible for annual goals relating to portfolio size, originations, pricing, fee income and credit quality. Other goals as assigned. Involved in the community and supports the Bank’s Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) initiatives. Keeps abreast of ongoing developments in the banking industry and in the economy, particularly as they apply to commercial lending. Oversees collections of overdue accounts within their portfolio. Works with the Senior Commercial Credit Officer and the SVP of the Commercial Loan Group to minimize any potential losses. Prepares a variety of reports on a scheduled and as-needed basis. Is an active participant in the commercial loan department, participating through verbal and written communications to help maximize the efficiency of the commercial department. Attends meeting and seminars as needed. Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines.
Knowledge, Skills and Work Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent education and work experience required. Minimum (5) five years of direct commercial or private banking lending experience. Knowledge of cannabis related banking regulations highly preferred. Formal credit training preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Proficient in multi-tasking in a team-oriented environment focused on the highest level of customer service. Ability to read, analyze and interpret a variety of complex documents and technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several very abstract and concrete variables. Ability to respond effectively to sensitive inquiries or complaints. Ability to write/create reports and present on controversial or complex topics to management and the Board of Directors. Outstanding quantitative/analytical skills with the ability to apply concepts of basic algebra including the calculation of figures and amounts such as discount, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, and ratios. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Physical Demands
This position is an office-based position in terms of physical demand. Employees are expected to be able to operate their fingers and hands to perform functions such as typing, writing, and filing. Employees must also be able to move throughout the office with ease while also being able to sit for extended periods of time. Employees must be able to see and hear in an office setting that does include much noise going on around one’s workspace. While this job is mainly clerical, there are instances in which employees must be able to transport up to 20 pounds.
