Job Description

Join Ochsner Health as a Sonographer, where you will perform advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures and mentor junior staff. This role offers the chance to make a significant impact in patient care while collaborating with experienced radiologists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Independently performs advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures
  • Serves as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students
  • Verifies physician order and procedure to ensure accuracy
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding
  • Operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure diagnostic quality standards
  • Completes timely quality control procedures
  • Facilitates departmental operations
  • Adapts behavior to specific patient populations
  • Performs other related duties as required

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of a CAHEA approved formal training program in diagnostic medical sonography
  • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) or registry eligible (required within 1 year of hire)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years of sonographer experience
  • Advanced certification in area(s) of specialty according to facility need
