Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll support a dedicated team in providing quality veterinary care to underserved communities. You'll play a vital role in fostering a positive work environment, mentoring staff, and ensuring the highest standards of animal care while making a significant impact in the lives of pets and their owners.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery at ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in HQHVSN techniques and other medical protocols
Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging, and teamwork
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-volume spay/neuter procedures
Provide compassionate preventive and basic care to patients
Schedule CM staff veterinarians and per diems for optimal coverage
Participate in monthly Veterinary Medicine Rounds and Morbidity and Mortality Meetings
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Excellent work attendance record
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
