Job Description

Join Mount Carmel as a Cook, where you will prepare and distribute food to patients, the cafeteria, and catering services. Work in a supportive environment dedicated to exceptional patient care and colleague well-being.

Key Responsibilities

  • Obtain appropriate ingredients from storage for recipes
  • Lift and carry medium to heavy food and equipment
  • Plan cooking schedule to ensure food is ready at specified times
  • Confer with dietitians regarding modified diet preparation
  • Review menu and special orders for types and quantities of food items
  • Perform all other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

  • High school Graduate or 1-year equivalent experience in commercial production food service
  • Basic math skills
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Food handlers’ certification within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Relevant work experience in a hospital setting, large institution, or commercial kitchen
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Knowledge of large quantity standards of cooking
  • Knowledge of food preparation by recipe
