Job Description
Join Optum as a Financial Counselor and play a crucial role in helping patients manage their healthcare finances. You'll work in a collaborative environment with the support of a global organization, making a positive impact on the health of your community.
Key Responsibilities
Implement the collection process for accounts in arrears
Contact patients regarding overdue balances and arrange timely payments
Maintain documentation of all collection activities
Handle patient complaints and escalate unresolved issues
Receive payments from patients
Prepare requests for refunds of overpayment
Review upcoming patient appointments regarding back balances
Telephone insurance companies for status of unpaid claims
Assist patients with explanations of their accounts
Confirm eligibility and coverage conditions on patient insurance
Attend staff meetings
Perform other tasks as required for effective functioning of the practice
Provide outstanding customer service to all patients
Travel to different locations to assist in coverage as needed
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma / GED or equivalent work experience
Must be 18 years of age or older
1+ year of healthcare customer experience
Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Ability to work onsite at 110 South B Mount Kisco, NY
Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) Monday - Friday
Preferred Qualifications
Healthcare and/or insurance billing or processing experience
Call Center experience
Revenue cycle experience
