Job Description
Join the ASPCA as a Lead Veterinarian, where you'll lead a team dedicated to providing veterinary care to underserved communities. You'll support veterinarians in delivering high-quality care while managing a positive work environment. This role combines leadership with hands-on veterinary practice, making a significant impact in animal welfare.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and monitor medicine and surgery provided at the ASPCA’s veterinary clinics
Train veterinarians in high-quality, high-volume spay/neuter techniques
Support a positive work culture of respect, belonging, and teamwork
Perform pre-surgery physical examinations and high-quality spay/neuter procedures
Provide compassionate, quality preventive and basic care to patients
Schedule CM staff veterinarians and per diems for optimal coverage
Required Qualifications
Current California State Veterinary License
Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary college
Minimum one year of experience in high quality, high volume spay/neuter
Minimum three years veterinary experience in small animal medicine and surgery
Demonstrate true leadership abilities in challenging situations
Excellent work attendance record
Preferred Qualifications
Previous people management experience strongly preferred
Fear Free® Shelter certification required within 60 days of hire
