The Patient Safety Officer is responsible for developing and overseeing the Patient Safety program, minimizing safety incidents, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to enhance patient care quality and safety initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct and coordinate performance improvement functions for patient safety
Collaborate with Risk Manager on accreditation compliance
Engage clinical providers in process improvement initiatives
Facilitate meaningful data analysis for patient safety
Develop reporting methods for patient safety events
Identify and respond to patient safety trends
Assist departments in preventing errors
Facilitate Root Cause Analysis
Consult and train on patient safety concepts
Manage accreditation program compliance
Required Qualifications
Healthcare quality/patient safety or clinical experience
Hospital regulatory expertise (CMS, DNV GL, or other hospital regulatory body)
Ability to lead groups and facilitate meetings
Leadership and management skills
Preferred Qualifications
Health Care Quality Improvement experience
Experience in data collection and performance improvement initiatives
Experience with accreditation activities, risk management, or patient relations
