Surgical Technologist (CVOR Experience Required)
Johnson City, NY

 

Start Date: 11/20/2025
Weekly Gross Pay: $2,408.95 (Pre-Tax)
Schedule: Day Rotation (M–F), 40 hours/week — 13-week contract
Typical start: 6a–7a | 4x10s or 5x8s
Call: Up to 3 shifts/week (8–16 hrs each) + one working weekend per 4 weeks (with post-shift call)

 

Job Overview

Under general direction, the Surgical Technologist assists the surgeon and OR team in maintaining sterile technique and ensuring patient safety. This position demands CVOR experience with cardiothoracic procedures including CABG, valve replacements, VATS, and robotic chest surgeries.

 

Responsibilities

  • Adheres to infection control and sterile technique policies at all times.
  • Assists in gowning, gloving, draping, and passing instruments during procedures.
  • Anticipates surgeon needs for instruments, sutures, and equipment.
  • Maintains organized and sterile operative field; conducts accurate counts.
  • Prepares supplies and equipment per surgeon preference cards.
  • Handles and identifies specimens correctly.
  • Assists in suturing, retraction, and suctioning under direction.
  • Participates in efficient room turnovers and supports OR team safety.
  • Takes rotating call as scheduled.

Requirements

  • Required: CVOR / Cardiothoracic surgical experience
  • Certifications:
    • NCCT Tech in Surgery Certified (TS-C) or
    • Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) – NBSTSA / NHA
  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Preferred: Previous Operating Room or Surgical Tech experience
