Description
Performs radiologic treatments for patients.
Responsible for pre-treatment services and delivery of radiologic treatment.
Primary Responsibilities:
Treatment of patients:
-Arrange treatment appointments.
-Deliver radiation to patients in accordance with physician’s instructions.
-Operate all types of radiotherapy equipment, i.e., Cobalt Therapy Unit, Linear Accelerator, Simulator, etc.
Pre-Treatment Preparation:
-Operate simulator for localization of tumor size and position.
-Takes contours and collects all physical factors for treatment plans.
-Perform dosimetry for treatment plans.
-Take photographs of patients for portal verifications, etc.
Patient Care Activities:
-Recognize all types of radiation reactions and provides the proper care and instructions to patients.
-Educate patients with respect to radiation therapy reactions and also life style modifications.
-Instruct incoming Residents and technologists in the use of equipment.
-Prepare cerrobend alloy blocks. Fabricate plastic holders for blocks.
-Construct and fabricate patient immobilization devices.
-Take and develop radiographs.
-Maintain patient management room neat and orderly.
-Coordinate department with inpatient activities to provide proper patient care. When necessary, transports inpatients.
-Ensure the proper functioning and maintenance of radiation therapy equipment.
-Perform other related duties as assigned.
Preferred Skills & Experience: - No prior experience required, preference for 6 months to one-year x-ray or radiologic experience.
Required Education: - High School diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of accredited radiologic program.
Required Certifications & Licensure: - Current NY State License for X-Ray technology.
- Certification in the operation of Radiologic equipment and treatment required.
- ARRT Certification
