The Senior Director of Behavior will lead the behavioral care and rehabilitation of animals at ARC and CARE while managing a team of behavior experts. This role emphasizes a holistic approach to animal welfare and requires collaboration across various departments to ensure the highest quality of care and innovative research initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Ensure high quality, low stress patient care
Manage and coach behavior staff
Lead research projects related to animal behavior and welfare
Foster relationships with medical and behavior teams
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Master’s or PhD in animal behavior or related discipline (for non-veterinarian candidates)
DVM degree from an AVMA accredited veterinary school (for veterinarian candidates)
