Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) – Night Shift

Location: Utica, NY

Job Type: Contract (13 Weeks)
Shift: Night – 8-Hour Shifts (10:30 PM – 6:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 37.5 hours/week

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our team in Utica, NY. This 13-week contract position offers night shifts in a 40-bed long-term care unit, providing care to patients with medical-surgical, orthopedic, dementia, and memory care needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Direct Patient Care: Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, monitor patient responses, and document observations accurately.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Registered Nurses, physicians, and other healthcare professionals to develop and update patient care plans.
• Patient Education: Provide education to patients and their families regarding health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care strategies.
• Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely records of patient care, including vital signs, medication administration, and behavioral observations.
• Crisis Management: Utilize de-escalation techniques and respond appropriately to emergencies.
• Infection Control: Adhere to infection control protocols to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.

Qualifications:

• Licensure: Valid and unrestricted LPN license in the state of New York.
• Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a long-term care or similar healthcare setting.
• Certifications: Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Skills: Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
• Flexibility: Must be willing to float to all units within the same building.
• Travel: Adherence to the 75-mile radius rule; local rate applies for residents within 75 miles.

Additional Information:

• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend is required.
