Job Description
The Hospital Bed Board Coordinator manages bed availability, ensuring efficient patient flow and communication among staff. This part-time night shift role is crucial for monitoring admissions and maintaining a calm environment during critical situations.
Key Responsibilities
Regulate bed availability throughout the hospital
Monitor admissions, transfers, and discharges in real-time
Communicate with ER staff and inpatient charge nurses regarding patient status
Review medical admit orders for accuracy
Conduct walking rounds with inpatient charge nurses
Operate the hospital's electronic bed board efficiently
Maintain effective communication regarding bed delays
Participate in performance improvement opportunities
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
One year or more of experience in an acute care setting or strong customer service experience
Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association or ability to obtain within 90 days of start date
Preferred Qualifications
Team player with ability to follow systems and protocols
Highly organized with strong oral and written communication skills
Confidence to communicate with community health care organizations
Sound judgment, decision making, and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
Critical thinking and resourcefulness
Experience in patient admittance, bed board, or administrative work
Strong analytical skills
