Job Description

Join Interstate Waste Services as a Diesel Mechanic, where you'll play a crucial role in maintaining our fleet of diesel heavy trucks and equipment. With a focus on safety and quality service, you'll perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, ensuring our operations run smoothly across Northern New Jersey and beyond.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform inspection, diagnosis, and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
  • Repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel heavy trucks and engines
  • Utilize diagnostic software to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign necessary repairs
  • Assist with emergency breakdowns as needed

Required Qualifications

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States
  • Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
  • Experience working on heavy duty diesel equipment or training from a recognized trade school
  • Ability to speak and read English well
  • Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the position
  • Must provide own tools

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2+ years experience working as a heavy duty Diesel Mechanic
  • Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems
  • Working knowledge of diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar
  • Knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations
