Join Interstate Waste Services as a Diesel Mechanic, where you'll play a crucial role in maintaining our fleet of diesel heavy trucks and equipment. With a focus on safety and quality service, you'll perform inspections, diagnostics, and repairs, ensuring our operations run smoothly across Northern New Jersey and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
Perform inspection, diagnosis, and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment
Repair electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake, and air systems on diesel heavy trucks and engines
Utilize diagnostic software to interpret failure modes and initiate or assign necessary repairs
Assist with emergency breakdowns as needed
Required Qualifications
At least 18 years of age
Legally eligible to work in the United States
Valid driver’s license (CDL preferred)
Experience working on heavy duty diesel equipment or training from a recognized trade school
Ability to speak and read English well
Ability to meet physical and safety requirements of the position
Must provide own tools
Preferred Qualifications
2+ years experience working as a heavy duty Diesel Mechanic
Experience with troubleshooting/repairing DPF systems
Working knowledge of diagnostic software such as Premium Tech Tool (Mack), Allison transmission, Cummins, CAT, Peterbilt, and Paccar
Knowledge of applicable DOT and OSHA standards and regulations
