The Senior Director of Behavior at ARC & CARE will lead the behavioral health and welfare of animals, ensuring high-quality care and overseeing a dedicated team. This role focuses on holistic animal care, collaborative research, and impactful management to enhance the lives of animals in New York City.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee behavioral care and pathway planning for ARC and CARE animals
Collaborate with medical and sheltering leaders to ensure quality of care
Lead and facilitate research projects related to animal behavior
Manage a team of nine behavior experts
Ensure high quality, low stress patient and population care
Required Qualifications
3+ years’ experience in people management
Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment
Comfort with humane euthanasia decisions and procedures
Fear Free certified within 6 months of hire
Ability to work additional hours, weekends, and respond to after-hours concerns as needed
Preferred Qualifications
Interest in developing/overseeing research projects
Interest in contributing to writing scientific publications
