Job Overview

The Step Down/Intermediate Cardiac Care Registered Nurse provides specialized care to patients with complex cardiac and medical conditions requiring close monitoring. This role involves rapid assessment, telemetry interpretation, and collaboration with an interdisciplinary team in a fast-paced Level II trauma facility.

Key Responsibilities
Provide direct patient care for intermediate and cardiac step-down patients (1:3–4 ratio).
Perform cardiac and telemetry monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and emergency response.
Manage central lines, arterial lines, PCA pumps, and care for trach/vent patients.

Job Requirements & Qualifications
Experience: Minimum 2 years (1.5 years absolute minimum).
Certifications: BLS (AHA required), ACLS preferred, RN License

Skills Required:
IV therapy, phlebotomy, starting IVs, accessing ports
Central/Peripheral line care and management
Interpretation of ABGs, oxygen devices (HFNC, CPAP/BiPAP, trach management)
Cardiac monitoring, heparin protocol, titration of drips
Charting System: Any (EPIC preferred)

Bed Size: 32 beds
Daily Census: 32 patients
