The Oncology Patient Coordinator at MUSC provides individualized assistance to patients and caregivers, promoting informed decision-making and timely access to quality care. This role serves as a vital link in communication among multidisciplinary providers during initial treatment planning.
Key Responsibilities
Assist the patient to better direct their own health care experience using screening and reinforcement of the treatment plan, educational programs, and linkage to health services and community resources
Serve as a patient liaison to assist patients and caregivers in scheduling within the complex healthcare system
Act as an advocate for an individual's health care needs by identifying and communicating opportunities for care intervention
Required Qualifications
Bachelor degree from an accredited university and two years of healthcare experience
High school diploma and 5 years of job experience in referral management, oncology navigation or patient access
Considerable knowledge of complex medical terminology
Strong interpersonal skills
Ability to establish and maintain collaborative relationships
