Job Description
Join Raytheon's Energetics and Propulsion Department as a Principal Engineer to develop and oversee advanced one shot devices. Utilize your engineering expertise to solve critical challenges in defense and contribute to technology roadmaps while ensuring technical rigor and timely delivery of projects.
Key Responsibilities
Apply and/or develop advanced one shot devices technologies
Provide technical oversight to subcontractors
Manage subcontract suppliers to deliver required components on schedule
Interface with the customer to identify user needs
Support failure analysis and corrective action through redesign
Present one shot device design models to internal and customer review meetings
Support proposals requiring one shots technologies
Oversee contract negotiations
Ensure technical rigor and depth of all deliverables
Travel to suppliers and government facilities
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)
8 years of prior relevant experience OR an Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience
Minimum of 8 years of experience in fuzing / one shots / engineering technology and/or engineering design
Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance
Preferred Qualifications
MS in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Math, or related science degree
Ten or more years of directly related experience in one shot devices and their applications
Directly related experience in one shots subsystems design, development, and test
Experience in working with and managing one shot suppliers
Willingness to travel, including international, to provide supplier support
Supplier collaboration experience and oversight generating specifications and statements of work (SOW)
Experience in One-Shot component designs
Experience in business development and technology road mapping
Excellent written and verbal skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple and competing priorities
Working knowledge or experience with missile design or development
Experience with DoD customers and/or associated contractor executives
