Key Responsibilities
Work between the x-ray and CT department
Ask for at least two forms of identification from patients
Start IVs on CT patients receiving contrast dye
Instruct patients on appropriate positions for accurate images
Maintain radiographic equipment in quality working order
Obtain images as requested by the physician or radiologist
Use radiation on patients if necessary
Keep track of patient records
Assist radiologists and physicians in evaluating images
Prevent unnecessary radiation exposure to patients
Communicate with patients regarding the procedure
Position patients for optimal x-rays and CT scans
Set equipment for best image quality
Apply knowledge of anatomy and physiology for diagnosis
Follow physician instructions closely
Prepare radiography equipment
Put reports in patient charts after images are read
Check patient orders before scanning
Check patient’s creatinine/GFR
Remind patients about diabetic medication
Ensure patient consent is obtained before exams
Required Qualifications
Certification as a radiologic technologist from an accredited institution
Registered with the ARRT
SC state license
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of experience preferred or will hire new graduate based off of clinical hours
