Job Description
Join Optum as an Associate Patient Care Coordinator and play a vital role in enhancing health outcomes. You'll be the first point of contact for patients, managing administrative duties in a dynamic clinical environment while enjoying comprehensive benefits and career growth opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
Communicates with patients and families to complete registration processes
Utilizes computer systems to enter and verify patient data
Processes referrals and pre-authorizations according to insurance requirements
Verifies insurance coverage and creates price estimates
Collects patient co-pays and discusses financial obligations
Identifies outstanding balances and collects due amounts
Responds to inquiries from patients and caregivers
Generates and analyzes patient data reports
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED (or higher)
Ability to work full-time (40 hours/week) Sunday - Saturday
Ability to stand for most of the 8-hour shift
Access to reliable transportation and a valid US driver's license
Preferred Qualifications
1+ years of customer service experience
Experience with Microsoft Office products
Experience in a Hospital Patient Registration Department or medical setting
Experience in insurance reimbursement and financial verification
Working knowledge of medical terminology
Understanding of insurance policies and procedures
Ability to perform basic mathematics for financial payments
